Mrs. Lufuno
Matsepane
also attending school in Johannesburg.
We would wake the child very early in the
morning and drive to Johannesburg. We
stayed at his mother’s house for three
months. We then started looking for a
place close to our workplaces and a
school for our son.
We asked my husband’s uncle who stays
where it was closer to workplaces and
school if we could build a shack in his
yard. He agreed, and we moved to his
uncle’s place. The aim was not to stay
there for long. We stayed in the shack
and when it rains, the rain water would
come in through the roof. My heart
would be very sore knowing that I was a
qualified Chemical Engineer and my
husband was a Lawyer, but we were
staying in a shack. I wanted us to get our
own house, but because of my
husband’s bad credit record it was
difficult to get one. I would look for a
house alone. I even looked for house on
the internet, and some were scams and
we ended up losing money. We stayed in
the shack for two years.
One day I found out that my husband has
asked another woman to marry him, he
wanted to pay Lobola for her while
staying with me. When I approached him
regarding this, he blamed me and said
he was marrying another woman
because I had a bad attitude and I do not
respect him.
